Present State of UGA Recruiting for 2012 Class

If you know me well, you should know that I am a UGA graduate/alumni and am a huge fan of the Bulldogs.  I think Mark Richt did an amazing job recruiting for this 2011 "dream team" class, especially landing Crowell, Drew, Swann, Rome and LeMay.  That said, it looks like they have dropped the ball with recruiting this year.  So far, some of the best prospects that UGA has been focusing their energy on have already been lost to Florida, FSU, Alabama and Auburn.  One of notice, Zeke Pike, announced today that he is going to Auburn.  Needless to say, this is the same kid that got kicked out of the 7-on-7 tournament for throwing a football at one of the referees, but this does spark some need for worry.   We have already lost the fight for some of the top RB prospects in the State of Georgia, which leads me to worry about if we are even going to be able to sign a 3 star recruit to the 2012 class at the RB position.  It has been announced  that now FSU leads for Ukeme Eligwe. Alabama has taken 2 more top GA RB prospects in Hillgrove HS player Kenyan Drake and Booker T Washington HS RB Justin Taylor. I know we just signed Crowell, but with our other not-so-shining stars in King, Ealey, Thomas and Malcome, we need to land at least a 4 star RB this season.  We also need to look at finding some O-Line prospects, which we haven't gotten a solid commitment from yet.  It might be too early to be worrying about this, but it is just a thought.  Feel free to leave your comments.

4TWENTY Art and Music Fest @ King Plow

If you are looking for something to do this 420, I have a few friends performing at King Plow Arts Center tonight along with CyHi da Prynce.  If you haven't heard of CyHi yet, you will soon.  He is an up and coming rapper out of Stone Mountain/Decatur who went to Redan High School.  He just signed to Kayne West's label and will be putting out his first album later this year.  His latest mixtape is available on DatPiff and you can download it here.  So, if you don't have plans yet, come check out the show.  It starts at 10:00 and tickets are $10.00.  Directions to King Plow are on their website here.

Painting a mural with great music!

I have always been really inspired by graffiti and mural artists.  The video is called “Pintura de un mural con excelente música!” or “Painting a mural with great music!”  The two artists who painted it are Supakitch and Koralie.  Both of these artists are more talented than most!  The music is a track from D.L.I.D (Dick Laurent is Dead), and goes really well with the timespan of the painting.  The end product is amazing.  Enjoy!

Hangout Music Festival

This will probably be one of the best music festivals of the entire summer... At least when it comes to Music Festivals that are in somewhat of a close location to Atlanta.  It is taking place May 20-22. I am going for sure because it takes place during the one week this summer that I have free in between graduation from law school and when I start my bar preparation course. Although there is no camping, it is going to take place in Gulf Shores, Alabama on the beach, so you can rent a condo or a beach house, which will be much more comfortable than sleeping in a tent in 80-90 degree weather.  Take a look some of the big artists playing and tell me that you don't agree:

  • Widespread Panic
  • Foo Fighters
  • My Morning Jacket
  • STS9
  • Bassnectar
  • Warren Haynes Band
  • Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
  • Umphrey's McGee
  • The Flaming Lips
  • Cee-Lo
  • Pretty Lights
  • Primus
  • Slightly Stoopid
  • Big Gigantic
  • Paul Simon
  • The Black Keys
  • Ween
  • Girl Talk
  • Matisyahu
  • Michael Franti and Speerhead
  • Keller Williams
  • Galactic
  • and many, many more!

MTHDS

I went to Denver, Colorado this weekend and had a chance to hang out with a few of these guys on Friday night and then got to go see them perform for free on Saturday at a local record store.  They are a bunch of really talented musicians and have a style that is pretty different from what you hear in Atlanta.  Needless to say, they are pretty damn badass and I have already listened to pretty much the entire CD.  MTHDS stands for "Music That Heightens Different Senses."  If you have a chance, go to their website and download some of their new songs.  Their website is kinda shitty as of now but I expect it to improve as the band gets more recognition.  Maybe next time I take a trip to Denver I will be able to go catch them again.

FlyKix ATL

If you are a sneaker-head like I am, there is a new joint you will have to check out that just opened up in Atlanta. Greg Street and CyHi da Prynce were both at the opening, with DJ Don Cannon on the 1's and 2's.  Currently my favorite places to buy new kicks in Atlanta are Stratosphere Walters , and WiSh.  This place looks like it is going to be Atlanta's version of Flight Club, or maybe even the next WiSh, and is definately out to make a statement in the Atlanta sneaker game!  The link to the sites webpage (which isn't fully up and running as of yet) is www.flykixonline.com.  Check it out next time you are going out to look for some new kicks!
